TDS offers test equipment for short term rental, fixed-term lease and lease-to-own. Why rent rather than buy?
1. No Equipment to Clean or Maintain – Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of equipment can be much higher than the initial purchase costs. Calibrating, cleaning and maintaining equipment can eat away valuable man-hours which could be better spent on billable or productive work. Add to that also the costs associated with purchasing calibration resources and supplies to maintain your equipment inventory. Renting offers you a more effective and economical alternative when all equipment is cleaned, checked, charged and calibrated every time.
2. Eliminate the Need for Carrying In – House Spares and Expertise for Repairing Your Own Equipment – Repairing equipment and keeping spares in stock also add to the total cost of ownership of equipment. Further, as most of the equipment is fairly high-tech, some in-house expertise needs to be developed to perform minor repairs and even to keep them operational. Renting eliminates these additional costs.
3. Preserving Your Capital – The greatest benefit of renting equipment is the savings of capital expenditures. Both large and small organizations are constantly faced with the problem of having to invest thousands of dollars in capital equipment which can only be partly offset against income. Renting equipment, on the other hand frees up your cash flow for more important activities. All rental expenditures can be completely offset against income.
4. Pay for Only What You are Using – Another issue of concern with owning equipment is the cost of depreciation while the equipment sits idle in a warehouse not being used. With rental equipment, you pay only when use it. More importantly, renting equipment offers you an easy way to manage and account for costs, as all rental expenses are related directly to specific projects.
5. Equipment on the FLY – In the ever-changing need and demand for equipment to be available, manufacturers typically have long lead times for delivery and shipment. By renting, equipment typically is guaranteed on the shelf and can be made available overnight for next day delivery.
